Inspiration

Nowadays, we all have many subscriptions to services such as music, videos, shopping, etc. It can quickly get out of hand and be hard to track. We forget what we've paid for and what subscriptions we have. Therefore, we decided to create a website that addresses these issues. SUB-ADD not only helps you manage your subscriptions but also makes you more aware of your spending. It also makes sure that you'll never forget a subscription again.

What it does

Once you enter information about your subscription, SUB-ADD adds it to the list below and calculates the total per month. As you add more of your subscriptions, SUB-ADD will calculate the sum of all your subscriptions per month.

How we built it

Our team used Repl.it to build our website. We coded in the languages HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

Challenges we ran into

We are all beginners to coding, and this is the first hackathon that 2/3 of us are attending. Therefore, it was quite difficult to navigate around learning new languages. HMTL, CSS, and JavaScript are all new languages to us, so we had to learn them along the way.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Although this was our first time making a website and coding in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, we managed to complete the website and make it function exactly how we envisioned it. JavaScript especially was difficult to figure out how to code the necessary processes we wanted to work behind the scenes. Overall, it was a very satisfying experience to learn all the new languages!

What we learned

This has been a tough, but also an informative process for us. We had to learn new languages, learn new skills, and apply them. We learned to persevere and problem solve as a team. Since for some of us, this is our first hackathon, we learned how hackathons worked and really enjoyed the experience.

What's next for SUB-ADD | Subscription Manager

In the future, we hope to add more features such as automatically adding subscriptions to the website through the customer's email, and notifying the customer when they haven't used a specific subscription in a while. Smaller features like editing or deleting the subscriptions would also be next on our list. As well as creating a set budget limit set by the customer and indicating whether or not they are over their budget.
