Inspiration

We were inspired by the growing disconnect between online fashion shopping and real-world fit. Many people buy clothes that don’t suit their style or body type, leading to wasted time, money, and returns. Meanwhile, small brands struggle to compete without physical storefronts. STYLE SYNC bridges this gap by offering a virtual try-on platform that benefits both shoppers and brands.

What it does

STYLE SYNC is a dual-sided marketplace:

For users: Try on real clothing virtually by uploading a photo or using a digital model. The platform suggests the right size based on body measurements and links to purchase.

For brands: Showcase products digitally, gain exposure, and connect with customers—no physical store required.

How we built it

Backend: Python (MediaPipe for body tracking), Supabase for database/auth.

Frontend: Next.js 14 + TypeScript, Tailwind CSS for styling.

AI/APIs: Replicate API (IDM-VTON model for virtual try-on), DigitalOcean Spaces for file storage.

Challenges we ran into

Realistic Virtual Try-On: Ensuring clothes fit naturally on diverse body types. Sizing Accuracy: Translating user measurements into brand-specific sizing. Scalability: Handling high-resolution image processing efficiently.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Created a seamless "link-to-buy" flow for brands. Developed a smart sizing system to reduce returns. Built a no-fuss dashboard for brands to upload and manage products.

What we learned

Balancing realism with performance in virtual try-ons is tricky but rewarding. User trust is critical—clear sizing guidance and privacy controls matter. Small brands crave simple, affordable tech solutions to grow online.
