Inspiration

As international students when we came to university, we didn't have the opportunity to get guidance from our seniors in selecting professors or classes. Furthermore, we missed a platform where we can ask questions like, "What's a good place to study during the day on campus?", "Who all are going to the event tonight at the Walter Pyramid"?. An all-in-one chat-reply platform where students can feel connected. Therefore, this app helps us to take guidance from seniors, hang out with friends, make new connections, and feel inclusive to our campus community.

What it does

This app allows users to write questions related to academics, socializing, random questions about the university culture, etc, and post them so that other students can try to help them out through their posts.

How we built it

We basically used HTML, Javascript, and React for the front end with TailwindCSS and DaisyUI to style it. For the backend, we used javascript and firebase (google cloud ) to store the data.

Challenges we ran into

With very less exposure to working with backend processes, we used a lot of time figuring out the backend logic for our project requirements. User aut Our primary challenge was to connect the backend that showcases all the comments on the homepage as the user name was not been shown.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Our achievement would build a full fledge web app in 24 hours, with very minimal exposure to Firebase and backend technology that is to be used to connect frontend javascript with firebase.

What we learned

We learned how to work with google-cloud and firebase and how to use firebase to authenticate new and old users.

What's next for StuXpert

We will try to add meetings and messages wherein the users can request other users to set up meeting in person and can chat with the users using the messaging feature.
