🛍️ E-Commerce Website with an Anti-Capitalist Twist ✨ About the Project In a world oversaturated with hyper-consumerism and profit-first digital platforms, we wanted to build something different—a project that questions the status quo. This e-commerce website isn't just another online shop; it’s an artistic and technical statement with an anti-capitalist theme, blending social critique with full-stack development. Inspired by mutual aid networks, community economies, and ethical design principles, we set out to reimagine what digital commerce could look like if profit wasn't the only motive.

🛠️ How We Built It We developed a full-stack application with both frontend and backend integration:

Frontend: Built using React with Tailwind CSS for a modern, accessible UI.

Backend: Powered by Node.js and Express, with MongoDB for data storage.

AI Integration: We used AI tools (like GitHub Copilot and ChatGPT) to streamline code generation, debug faster, and stay productive during late-night sessions.

Collaboration: Version control and collaboration were handled via Git and GitHub.

Key Features 🧾 Product listings that satirize consumer culture

🛒 Cart and checkout system with ironic UX copywriting

🔍 Search filters that promote ethical sourcing and DIY alternatives

💬 Optional community-sourced reviews and barter options

📚 What We Learned This project wasn't just about code—it was about collaboration, persistence, and critical thinking. Key takeaways:

Teamwork: Coordinating frontend/backend development required constant communication and flexibility.

Resilience: We ran into bugs, burnout, and blockers, but kept pushing through.

Coding Skills: We sharpened our skills in JavaScript, React, and MongoDB.

AI for Development: Using AI responsibly improved our workflow without replacing our creativity.

🧩 Challenges Faced Frontend–Backend Integration: Bridging the frontend components with backend APIs was harder than expected. Authentication and data sync often broke unexpectedly.

Theming with Purpose: Designing an anti-capitalist interface without resorting to clichés took iteration and feedback.

Scope Creep: It was tempting to keep adding features. We had to remind ourselves: done is better than perfect.

🧠 Final Thoughts This wasn't just an e-commerce site—it was an experiment in radical digital creativity. By blending satire, technical skill, and ideological intent, we hope it invites people to rethink the platforms they use every day.
