Inspiration

I needed a hammer during move in day. However, I didn't have a hammer nor would I need a hammer in the future. Instead of going to buy one, I asked someone else if they would be willing to let me borrow it. They did and I didn't have to participate in what my team and I later learned was overconsumption. link link

What it does

Our app allows users to lend and borrow items as apposed to selling items and having to buy newly processed items. Thus, it limits the overconsumption of goods and the negative environmental effects it has with it.

How we built it

We build a prototype in Figma. We made the logo and certain design principles in Canva.

Challenges we ran into

We were unable to make an actual app due our lack of knowledge of the platform React Native and time constraints.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We overcame these challenges by learning about Figma and separating the responsibilities for each team member. We learned our strengths and weaknesses when it came to Figma and figured out who could design the app, make it interactive, and who could present the app efficiently.

What we learned

We learned marketing design along with how to make a prototype of an app. Using these features, this decreases the time it would need to code the app along with fixing any bugs before coding.

What's next for Stuff Near Me

We want to make this into an actual app and allow this to tested in the Athens area, specifically for UGA students. As we grow in users we can reach out to other Georgian universities and fix any bugs along the way.
