Inspiration

As a student myself, I’ve experienced how overwhelming exam preparation can get — long hours, mental fatigue, and moments when you just want someone to say, “It’s okay, take a breath.” I realized that while there are many study tools out there, most of them only focus on productivity. Very few care about how a student actually feels. That’s when the idea of StudyZen was born — not just another Pomodoro app, but a calm digital space where students like me can focus better, track progress, and take care of their mental well-being too. I wanted to build something that I wish I had during my own tough study days — a small friend in the form of an app, who reminds you: "You’re doing your best. And that’s enough".

how I built this app

I built this app using Bolt.new — a no-code platform that let me focus on design and experience without writing a single line of code.

I started by planning the key sections students would need: a Pomodoro timer, tracker, calm corner, journal, and tips. Then I designed the layout using Bolt’s visual builder, added logic blocks, calming colors, and simple navigation.

Everything was built mobile-first, keeping in mind the mindset of students preparing for exams like JEE or NEET.

challenges

Challenges I ran into Creating a working Pomodoro-like experience without code was tricky. I also had to ensure the layout felt soothing on both desktop and mobile screens. Finding the right balance between features and simplicity took the most time.

What I learned

This project taught me how much you can do with no-code tools, and how important UX is in apps designed for mental clarity. I also understood how a small idea can create real emotional impact if built with heart.

What's next

I’d love to expand StudyZen with local storage, calming audio, and personalization features — and make it available as a progressive web app (PWA) for every student in need of a mental boost.
