Inspiration
Students love TikTok because it’s fast, fun, and addictive—so why isn’t learning the same? We wanted to turn studying into something students actually want to do.
What it does
StudyTok converts any topic into short, TikTok-style micro-lessons with captions, animations, and quick quizzes. Users just enter a concept, and StudyTok generates a scrollable feed of 20–30 second learning clips.
How we built it
We used an LLM to break down topics into micro-concepts, then generated concise scripts, visuals, and captions. The frontend mimics a TikTok feed, while the backend assembles each “lesson clip” in real-time.
Challenges we ran into
- Keeping micro-lessons both short and academically accurate
- Ensuring visual consistency in auto-generated clips
- Building smooth, TikTok-like vertical swipe UI
- Managing latency for real-time content generation
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Created fully auto-generated mini-lessons that feel like real social content
- Achieved a smooth, native-like vertical feed experience
- Made learning genuinely fun for our testers
What we learned
- Short-form learning works best when focused on one simple idea
- Students retain more when content feels native to their social habits
- Balancing speed and quality in AI-generated media is tricky but solvable
What's next for StudyTok
- Add audio/video generation for true TikTok-style clips
- Personalized learning feeds (“For You Page for Studying”)
- Teacher dashboards to upload curriculum
- Gamification: streaks, badges, learning playlists
- Mobile app version
