Inspiration

As Computer Science and Software Engineering students, we work in an application-based field. As a result, we do a lot less memorization compared to other faculties, and more problem solving which often makes us forget how to ACTUALLY study for courses that require a lot of memorization. After some research, we found out that humans retain knowledge better when it is studied over a period of time. Since we spend so much time on our phones all time, why take all that time to instead be productive but also trick ourselves and put our brains in a familiar environment to keep us motivated? Our solution was then created.

What it does

Our app allows users to manually enter or use AI to generate flashcards to scroll through in order to study. We allow users to organize their questions by topic, allowing for the editing and deletion of these topics. We also use speech recognition to see if your answers are right incase you're someone who prefers to say things out loud!

How we built it

We first created the idea, listing core functionalities and what would be nice to have, we then started to draw out our vision, started programming, worked through a whole load of challenges and came to our final product.

Challenges we ran into

We ran into many challenges, but in short they were mostly: logic issues, server issues, API key issues, syntax errors, formatting errors and version control conflicts.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud of how fast we put together something functional and the amount of dedication we put into our project.

What we learned

We learned how to work and communicate together and many, many technical skills with technologies we've never used before.

What's next for StudyTok

Keep working on adding features, such as account management, train our own AI model, refine UI, and eventually launch it into a mobile app!
