StudySpark AI
Inspiration
Students often spend hours reading lengthy notes and textbooks to understand difficult concepts and prepare for exams. I wanted to make learning simpler by using AI to turn study material into easy explanations and interactive quizzes. This idea inspired me to build StudySpark AI.
What it does
StudySpark AI is an AI-powered study assistant that helps students learn more effectively. Users can enter their study notes and generate simple explanations and multiple-choice questions (MCQs). They can attempt quizzes and check their results, making learning more interactive and engaging.
How we built it
I built StudySpark AI using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for the frontend and Node.js with Express for the backend. I integrated Google's Gemini AI to generate explanations and quiz questions. I used Zod for data validation, GitHub for version control, and Render to deploy the application online.
As part of the Build With AI: Basics hackathon, I explored AI-assisted development and worked on turning my idea into a practical application through planning, implementation, testing, and debugging.
Challenges we ran into
One of the main challenges was ensuring that AI-generated explanations and quiz questions were returned in the correct format and displayed properly on the website. I also faced issues with API configuration, environment variables, and deployment. Solving these problems helped me understand the importance of testing, validation, and reliable error handling in AI applications.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I am proud of turning my idea into a deployed AI-powered web application. StudySpark AI brings AI-generated explanations and quizzes together in one place, helping students practise and understand topics more easily. I also gained practical experience connecting an AI model to a web application and making it available online.
What we learned
Through this project, I learned how to integrate Gemini AI, build backend APIs, validate data, debug errors, and deploy a web application. I also learned how AI coding tools and structured planning can support the development process when combined with testing and human review.
What's next for StudySpark
I plan to add PDF and document uploads, quizzes with different difficulty levels, personalized learning recommendations, and progress tracking. I also want to improve the learning experience so students can identify weak areas and study at their own pace.
My goal is to make StudySpark AI a helpful learning companion that makes studying simpler, smarter, and more interactive.
