Inspiration All our team members are avid users of apps like notify, apple notes, etc. As people are constantly creating notes, we wanted to revise them in the best way possible. We believe a lot of other students feel the same. So, we worked towards creating a website that makes the review of these notes a really fun process by quizzing us on them through a simple mcq quiz and games incorporating various themes such as mystery solving, trending topics, etc. to integrate learning with fun,

What it does Study Quest transforms the way students engage with their study materials by turning plain notes into interactive quizzes and games. Users simply type in their study notes, then customize a quiz with their preferred question count, ranging from quick three question sprints to twenty question challenges. More than just quizzes, Study Quest features unique game modes like “The Detective” and “Brainrot,” which embed users in story-driven environments, blending note details seamlessly into the narrative and challenges of each game.

How we built it Study Quest was built using Python for backend logic, while HTML and JavaScript were used for the frontend. Flask served as the bridge connecting the two, allowing smooth data transfer between the frontend and backend. Development took place in VS Code, where we worked on features and debugged issues. The use of python to implement the backend and an efficient web based interface made by using html and using genAI to teach us how to implement it gave us flexibility and creative freedom as the project evolved. Also, we gave our users the option to operate on their notes better using genAI by implementing its existing API.

Challenges we ran into One of the hurdles involved integrating our frontend and backend components. We initially struggled with certain JavaScript concepts, but a few workshops we attended provided the information we needed. Designing the core game mechanics and putting the note content into those experiences required both technical and creative skills. Debugging and synchronizing AI-driven features within the games introduced additional obstacles, but we overcame them by collaborating closely.

Accomplishments that we're proud of Bringing together multiple technologies in a single weekend was no small feat. We built custom game mechanics and designed a user-friendly flow for study note submission and quiz generation. We also successfully integrated complex HTML and templating logic, implemented AI-powered quiz creation, and debugged intricate bugs ourselves. We were also introduced to a whole new set of programming concepts.

What we learned The workshops and networking sessions expanded our understanding of both technical concepts (like JavaScript and Python integration) and practical skills (such as entrepreneurship and résumé building). Above all, we discovered how to work effectively as a team, quickly adapting to feedback, and mastering new technologies on the fly. We also learnt about Flask and high level concepts such as CORS.

What's next for Study Quest Looking ahead, our top priority is designing an even more seamless and engaging user interface, while expanding the variety of themes and stories within the game modes. We're eager to partner with Google to add formal sign up functionality and plan on officially launching Study Quest under a web domain. With more interactive features and expanded content, we hope to make learning more immersive and playful. Most importantly, Study Quest will be accessible to all students around the World.
