Inspiration

Managing schoolwork can become overwhelming when assignments, deadlines, and study sessions compete for attention. I wanted to build a tool that helps students stay organized, understand what needs attention first, and make steady progress toward their academic goals. That idea inspired StudyPilot: Your Learning, On Course.

What It Does

StudyPilot is a student productivity dashboard that brings important study tools together in one place. Users can:

Manage assignments: Add assignments with subjects, due dates, and estimated work time.

Prioritize tasks: Use smart priorities to identify assignments that may need attention first.

Track progress: Monitor completed assignments and overall progress.

Stay ahead of deadlines: View deadline indicators to help plan work before it becomes overdue.

Use Focus Mode: Work in focused 25-minute study sessions with a built-in timer.

The goal is to make studying feel more structured, manageable, and productive.

How I Built It

I built StudyPilot using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. HTML provides the dashboard structure, CSS creates the responsive interface and visual design, and JavaScript powers assignment management, task filtering, progress tracking, deadline indicators, and the focus timer.

I also used browser local storage to keep assignment information saved between visits, so users can return to their tasks without starting over.

Challenges I Faced

One challenge was bringing several useful features together while keeping the interface clean and easy to understand. I had to work through how assignments should be added, displayed, completed, filtered, and saved. Adding smart priorities and a focus timer also required careful JavaScript logic.

Building this project helped me practice connecting the visual design of a web application to its functionality. It also taught me the importance of testing individual features and making the experience straightforward for users.

What I Learned

Through StudyPilot, I gained practical experience with JavaScript interactions, DOM manipulation, event handling, local storage, responsive CSS, and organizing a small web application. I also learned how to turn an idea into a working project by building features incrementally and testing them along the way.

What's Next

Future improvements could include study reminders, recurring assignments, customizable focus sessions, and calendar integration. My goal is to keep improving StudyPilot into a helpful everyday tool that encourages students to stay organized, focus on their goals, and build better study habits.
