Inspiration
As a computer science student I sometimes know my exam dates. Still get stuck deciding what to study first. I wanted a voice- helper that turns those dates into one clear next step.
What it does
StudyPilot is an Alexa+-style study assistant simulation. I can tell it exam dates by voice or by typing. It saves subjects and quiz results locally creates a plan based on upcoming exams offers interactive quizzes and shows weekly progress. Its SQLite memory still works after the app restarts.
How I built it
The web app uses FastAPI and Python. Functions, in tools.py save exam details and quiz results, calculate study plans and create progress summaries using SQLite. The browser page shows the plan, quiz and progress cards. Uses the Web Speech API for voice input.
The submitted demo runs in simulation mode with sample DBMS and OS quizzes. It does not use a live Alexa+ service or Bedrock during the demo. The source also contains a Bedrock tool-calling path for a configured AWS account.
Challenges and what I learned
I didn’t have AWS credentials. I made sure the simulated experience could still run locally. Voice recognition also behaved differently across browsers: it worked in Microsoft Edge while Brave opened the microphone but didn’t return text. I learned to test the flow—from saving exam dates to seeing progress after a restart.
What’s next
I’d like to add subjects make the quizzes adapt more precisely to missed questions and offer more voice and language options.
