Inspiration
Students often struggle to decide what to study, how much time to spend on each topic, and when to revise before exams. We created StudyPilot AI to make exam preparation more organized, manageable, and trackable through a structured study-planning dashboard.
What it does
StudyPilot AI helps students organize their exam preparation in one place. Students can manage subjects and topics, create a structured study timetable, track study sessions, reschedule tasks, and monitor their progress.
Key features include:
- Study Planning: Organizes topics into scheduled study sessions.
- Revision Planning: Helps students allocate time for revision.
- Task Tracking: Allows students to mark sessions as completed.
- Rescheduling: Helps adjust unfinished study sessions.
- Progress Insights: Provides an overview of study activity.
- Privacy-Focused Storage: Stores study-plan data locally in the browser.
How we built it
We built StudyPilot AI using React, TypeScript, and Vite. The interface is designed as a student-friendly dashboard with dedicated sections for the overview, study plan, subjects, progress insights, and settings.
The current application uses deterministic scheduling logic to organize study sessions and browser local storage to retain study-plan data on the user's device. This approach keeps the core planning workflow simple and does not require an external AI API.
Challenges we ran into
One challenge was organizing study information into a timetable that is easy to understand and update. We also needed to make the interface useful for everyday studying, with clear session durations, completion actions, and rescheduling options.
Another challenge was presenting the study plan and progress information in a clean dashboard while keeping the application straightforward to use.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud to have built a working study-planning dashboard that brings subject organization, scheduling, revision, task tracking, and progress visibility together in one application.
We also made the application privacy-focused by keeping study-plan data in browser storage, and we deployed a live version so users can explore the experience directly.
What we learned
Through this project, we strengthened our understanding of React, TypeScript, component-based UI development, state management, browser local storage, and building a complete web application.
We also learned that a useful student tool needs more than an attractive interface: its planning workflow must be understandable, practical, and easy to update as study needs change.
What's next for StudyPilot AI
Our next steps are to improve personalization, make timetable generation more adaptive to students' available time and priorities, enhance progress analytics, and refine the revision workflow.
We also plan to explore AI-powered study recommendations, smarter rescheduling, and additional features that help students identify learning gaps and prepare more effectively for exams.
