Inspiration

I've always known that studying can feel overwhelming, especially when you have long PDFs and pages of notes to go through. Sometimes, you spend so much time reading that it becomes difficult to focus on what really matters or remember what you've learned. I wanted to build something that makes studying less stressful and helps students learn in smaller, more manageable steps. That's how StudyMode came about.

What It Does

StudyMode transforms long text and PDF documents into smaller study sections. For each section, it highlights key points and important terms, generates flashcards, and creates quizzes to help users test their understanding before moving on to the next section. Instead of overwhelming students with everything at once, StudyMode encourages a more focused, step-by-step learning experience.

How I Built It

I built StudyMode with the goal of making the learning process simple and practical. I focused on creating a workflow that takes study materials and turns them into useful learning resources, combining key-point extraction, flashcard generation, and quiz generation into one application.

Challenges I Faced

One of the biggest challenges was breaking lengthy study materials into smaller sections without losing important information or context. I also had to consider how to make the generated content useful for learning, not just shorter. Creating a flow that connects summaries, flashcards, and quizzes while keeping users focused was another important part of the process.

What I Learned

Building StudyMode taught me to think beyond simply creating an application that works. I learned the importance of understanding users' problems and designing features around their actual needs. I also gained a better appreciation for how technology can make learning more accessible and manageable when it's designed with the user in mind.

What's Next

I hope to continue improving StudyMode based on user feedback, making it an even more helpful tool for students who want to study smarter, stay focused, and feel more confident about what they're learning.
