How I built
StudyMate AI is a student-led AI project developed by Sakshyam Niraula to make learning more interactive, accessible, and efficient. The platform allows students to upload study materials and use artificial intelligence to generate document-based answers and multiple-choice questions (MCQs) at different difficulty levels. The goal is to help students revise their lessons, test their understanding, and learn more effectively without spending excessive time manually preparing practice questions.
To evaluate its performance, I conducted an initial study using Physics, Chemistry, and Computer Science documents. StudyMate AI answered 8 out of 9 document-based questions correctly, achieving an accuracy of 88.9% in this small evaluation, and generated 45 MCQs across three subjects and three difficulty levels. The findings were documented in a research preprint published on Zenodo, titled “Evaluating the Accuracy and Reliability of StudyMate AI for Document-Based Question Answering and Multiple-Choice Question Generation.” This project represents my interest in applying AI to real educational challenges while investigating its accuracy, reliability, and potential to support students in their everyday learning. it
