Introducing "Study BUDD-E", not just a study companion, but your own personal Q&A machine:

  1. Concentration Tracking: Through its advanced sensors, Study BUDD-E is in sync with your study dynamics. Detecting your reading, typing, or pondering moments, it differentiates between genuine focus and those wandering-mind intervals.
  2. Question & Answer Buddy: Hit a snag? Unsure about a concept? Just ask! With a vast database and smart processing, "Study BUDD-E" provides you with answers to your academic queries. No need to browse the web and risk distractions. Your BUDD-E's got your back.
  3. Study Stats: After wrapping up your study session, prepare for some insights! "Study BUDD-E" showcases stats on your concentration levels, time well spent, and moments of diversion, helping you understand your study patterns and where you can improve.
  4. Reward System: All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. For every successful, focused study session, "Study BUDD-E" cheers you on by dispensing a sweet candy treat. Your academic achievements, no matter how small, deserve a sweet celebration.

🔧 How we built it

Building the "Study BUDD-E" was a blend of robotics, software development, and a sprinkle of sweet creativity. Here's a behind-the-scenes look at our construction journey:

  1. Robot Base: At the heart of "Study BUDD-E" is the Viam rover platform. We chose it for its robustness and flexibility. This provided a solid foundation upon which we could customize and bring our sweet-treat-giving academic aide to life.
  2. The Add-ons:
  3. Camera: We equipped BUDD-E with a camera to better understand and respond to the user's study behaviors, ensuring that the rewards and stats provided were in sync with real-time engagement.
  4. Candy Dispenser: No reward system is complete without the rewards! Our candy dispenser is strategically integrated to give out those well-deserved treats after fruitful study sessions.
  5. Speaker: To make the Q&A experience more interactive, we added a speaker. This allows BUDD-E to vocalize answers to any academic queries, making the study experience more engaging.
  6. The Brain - Raspberry Pi: Orchestrating the movements, rewards, and interactions is the Raspberry Pi. This mini-computer takes care of processing, managing the camera feed, controlling the candy dispenser, and handling speaker outputs. All this while seamlessly integrating with the Viam Platform.
  7. Frontend Magic: To offer a user-friendly interface, we developed a study page using React. This not only tracks study progress but also facilitates smooth communication between the student and "Study BUDD-E". It's sleek, intuitive, and keeps you connected with your robotic study companion.

By amalgamating a strong robotic base with added functionalities and a dynamic front-end interface, we've aimed to make "Study BUDD-E" an essential part of every student's study routine.
