As a student, balancing assignments, deadlines, and exam preparation can quickly become overwhelming. Often, the challenge isn't knowing what needs to be done, but figuring out where to start and how to organise everything.

I wanted to explore how a conversational assistant could make student productivity feel more natural. Inspired by the conversational experience of Alexa+, I built StudyFlow, a student productivity companion that brings planning, task management, and exam preparation into one place.

StudyFlow combines a productivity dashboard with an Alexa+-inspired conversational interface. Students can interact with the assistant to organise tasks, plan their day, and prepare for exams. The goal is to make productivity more accessible by allowing students to express what they need in natural language rather than navigating complicated workflows. The interface also explores browser-based voice interaction where supported.

I built StudyFlow as a web application using React, Vite, JavaScript, and CSS. I used GitHub for version control and Vercel to deploy the application so it could be accessed through a live demo.

I developed the interface around a dark, modern design, with a conversational assistant as the central experience and a dashboard for viewing and managing tasks. Browser-side storage helps preserve tasks between visits, while browser speech capabilities allow me to explore voice-based interaction without requiring paid APIs or a separate backend. I used AI-assisted development to help implement and improve the application, then tested the interface and worked through issues during development.

One of my biggest challenges was making the project feel like more than a conventional to-do list with a chatbot attached. I wanted the assistant to be central to the experience, with conversations leading to useful actions in the productivity dashboard.

Another challenge was balancing the idea with the time available for a hackathon. I had to prioritise the main functionality, a clear user experience, and a deployable application while keeping the implementation manageable. I also had to account for the limitations of a browser-based simulation, particularly around voice features and the distinction between an Alexa+-inspired experience and actual Alexa integration.

Building StudyFlow taught me how to turn an idea into a working web application, develop an interactive frontend, manage changes with Git and GitHub, and deploy a project using Vercel. It also helped me understand how conversational interfaces can connect user requests with practical actions. A useful assistant should do more than respond; it should help users move forward.

I would like to expand StudyFlow with more personalised study planning, smarter revision schedules, deadline-aware recommendations, and improved voice interaction. My goal is to help students spend less time organising their workload and more time learning.

StudyFlow : Your goals, one conversation away.
