Inspired by our struggles with ADHD and other learning challenges, we created Stay Learning - an innovative educational app designed to support neurodiverse students, particularly those with ADHD and autism.

Our journey began when we, a diverse group of women, each faced battles with learning, often doubting our intelligence. It wasn't until we learned about ADHD and other mental health challenges that we understood the root of our struggles. This revelation transformed our lives and ignited our determination to make a difference.

We built Stay Learning to be more than just another educational app. It's a personalised learning companion that adapts to individual needs, leveraging AI to create tailored learning paths. We focused on creating a distraction-free, sensory-sensitive interface that caters to the unique challenges faced by students with ADHD and autism.

The development process was both challenging and rewarding. We had to deep dive into the latest research on neurodiversity and education technology. Integrating AI (ChatGPT/Ollama) for personalised learning assistance was particularly complex, but it allowed us to create truly adaptive learning experiences.

One of our biggest challenges was balancing feature richness with simplicity. We wanted to offer comprehensive support without overwhelming our users. This led to countless iterations of our UX design, always keeping our end-users in mind.

Another significant hurdle was ensuring accessibility across different devices and internet connectivity levels, considering the diverse technological landscape in South Africa. We overcame this by optimising our app for low-bandwidth environments and ensuring a responsive design that works seamlessly on smartphones and laptops.

Through this project, we've not only created a potentially life-changing tool but also grown tremendously as developers and advocates for inclusive education. Stay Learning isn't just an app; it's a movement towards a more educated, empowered, and inclusive society.
