Inspiration

Educational inequality persists, hindering underprivileged students' access to resources and support. Financial constraints, lack of tutoring opportunities, and limited access to study materials create disparities among students. Our goal is to address these challenges and bridge the educational gap by providing a platform that encourages collaboration and resource-sharing.

What it does

Our mission revolves around educational equality, and our dynamic platform aims to bridge the gap among students. Through user registration and goal setting, we foster a sense of community, facilitating collaboration in study groups and promoting diversity. With performance tracking, public tutoring channels, and a resource-sharing hub, we ensure equal access to educational materials. Addressing financial barriers, our app connects students with earning opportunities, scholarships, and part-time job listings. Committed to data privacy and fair treatment, we collaborate with NGOs and emphasize the recognition of underprivileged backgrounds. Using the app as a catalyst for awareness, we share stories and advocate for educational equality.

How we built it

  • Channels (a MOOC -- Massive Open Online Course --platform for spreading knowledge)
  • Study groups (a smaller platform for students to huddle together with their buddies and learn)
  • Resource hub (a one-stop platform for finding information related to any course on campus)
  • Trust Funds (for receiving donations for NGOs and Individuals)
  • News feed (a wall of periodicals ranging from Job openings to scholarship opportunities and even NGO and School announcements)

Challenges we ran into

  • Mapping some relational concepts from SQL to No-SQL
  • Handling permissions between multiple entities
  • Soft deletion of entities with reference persistence

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Our proudest accomplishment lies in the successful implementation of StudyBuddy, a dynamic platform utilizing Typescript and TypeSpec. We've seamlessly integrated MongoDB Atlas and PayStack, fostering a secure and efficient environment. The diverse features, including Channels, Study Groups, Resource Hub, Trust Funds, and a News Feed, showcase our commitment to addressing multifaceted educational needs. we've achieved a robust solution.
