Inspiration
I'm someone who's always had a hard time working or studying with others since most people study in ways that work best for them. I've always wanted to find others who did have similar study preferences cause I feel as though having a study partner would keep me more accountable than just studying on my own.
What it does
Study Bud Finder is a website that helps other students find study partners that have similar study preferences
How we built it
I built this project by using HTML for the form inputs and the base structure of the website. I used Javascript for the matching logic and interactive features as well as CSS for the minimalist dark theme and design of the website
Challenges we ran into
- learning how to style forms and making them look refined
- making the website responsive
- implementing the matching algorithm, despite it being pretty simple, I'm pretty new to coding so it was an interesting process
What we learned
This was my first time building a website completely from scratch in a while. I was able to learn a lot specifically how to structure an HTML properly, various CSS styling techniques, Javascript event handling, and overall how to make a website look professional with minimal design.
What's next for studyBud
In the future, I'd definitely want to add a real database that stores user profiles, possible messaging between matched students, and a way to integrate school course schedules which I think would make time preferences more specific.
