Inspiration
We noticed that trying to motivate people by doing incentives like a pizza party at the end of the semester, doesn't work very well.
- It's too one-dimensional. If some people don't like pizza, well, they don't have much of a choice even though they did a good job within the class.
- It's very hard to navigate the campus to deliver the food, so once it finally gets there, it's already cold.
What it does
Allows teachers to reward their students with points for good behavior, which they can then use to buy food in our app from any of the restaurants from the Manwaring Center. The person delivering the food will then be able to navigate to the student while the food it is still hot and ready.
How we built it
We used react native to build a mobile app that uses web sockets to sync in real time with other people using the software.
Challenges we ran into
Challenges with supabase and version control.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Bringing the magic and enthusiasm of Hogwarts to the teachers and students of BYU-Idaho.
What we learned
The importance of perseverance and never giving up, even when things look like they can't get much worse.
What's next for StudyBites
Use in any and all universities, as well as enterprise level software and environments to run from.
