Inspiration

One of the team members suffered stress while studying several topics. He tried using OpenAI as a tool to compensate what his professors couldn't make him comprehend, but didn't find the default interface interactive enough, as it was just text without requiring him to nothing more than read and memorize. The idea of an interactive agentic app that could quiz him off his study material to him reach perfect scores came up to him.

What it does

StudyAthon offers a multi-choice quizz loop, flash card maker, educative games and a education-related only chatbox. The app works by the user uploading or typing down their study material. For the loop, it writes a multiple-choice quiz grounded in the student’s material. The loop can be timed, or continue until the user answers all questions correctly - varying levels of difficulty. After each round with at least one wrong answer, the agent rephrases all the correct questions, to prove the student clearly knows what they are tested on; and asks if the student wants to know the correct answer for the wrong ones (if yes, these questions will be rephrased, but if not, they will not be rephrased) For the flashcards, they are created by the agent customizing the level of confidence according to the student's preference. The student types down the topic they want to practice, and optionally can specify how they can be formatted (include summaries, formulas). For the games, StudyAthon has two types of games, making studying more fun: memory match (with the student’s goal being to match the upside down concept and definition cards) and boss fight (a similar format to the multi-choice quiz loop, but including an antagonist to defeat and limited lives to do it).

How we built it

We used a React-Native framework and typescript/python to manage the UI and ADK agents.

Challenges we ran into

"It works on my machine" Background ADK services working on one machine but not in the other ones. Limited AI tokens

Accomplishments that we're proud of

"It works on our machines", previous challenge surpassed

What we learned

We learned how to solve merge conflicts

What's next for StudyAthon

Currently StudyAthon is limited to a single-player mode. With more time and resources, it is planned to be launched with a multiplayer mode, both played by student alone (focusing on competition) or teaming up (with a more cooperative environment).
