Study-Nous

Inspiration

I was part of the problem. I used to ask AI for ready-made answers that I could simply copy and paste. Inspired by Socrates and his method of questioning, I wanted to build an AI learning system that guides students toward answers rather than simply giving them one. And that's how Study-Nous was born!

What it does

StudyNous is the only place you need for studying, and could surprisingly be approved by parents or teachers. You can chat with a Socratic AI that helps you figure things out instead of giving you the answer, generate quizzes, flashcards, listen to focus sounds and plan/schedule your studies!

How we built it

I built StudyNous completely solo. The product engineering was done by me, I designed the whole product, its logic, features, its visual style and user flows. Before building anything, I hand-wrote 7 A4 pages designing StudyNous from A to Z, then turned those ideas into the working product. However, Im not a technical developer yet, so I used Codex to help me write and debug the code, entirely, while im confident i understand exactly how each feature generally functions.

Challenges we ran into

The biggest challenge was turning an idea I had designed on paper into a real, working product while still learning the technical side of development. While an idea may sound perfect in your mind, the execution part is where most things are judged.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I’m most proud of how much I managed to build as a solo 15-year-old in just a few weeks. Moreover, the UI/UX is my best work yet, with stunning visuals across the whole app!

What we learned

I had to constantly test things, see what actually worked, and change my thinking when it didn’t. Therefore, that trial and error is the best way of learning...

What's next for Study-Nous

StudyNous is only the beginning. I want to turn it into something real, that eventually becomes a genuine alternative to the way students currently study. I want to keep improving the learning experience, test it with real students, and eventually make StudyNous something students actually use every day.
