Inspiration
Due to Covid 19, most courses are conducted online, which means students are spending more time on their computers. Such a change posts a familiar but unnoticed problem: the distraction. The internet provides an endless source of entertainment such as games and social media. Hence, we aim to reduce such distraction by jump scaring the users whenever they attempt to browse such websites during study time.
What it does
- Set timer for study time.
- Jumpscare users when they access social media during study time.
How I built it
We use google API to build a google chrome extension. The logic layout is written in javascript.
Pop up timer and error page is built in HTML.
Challenges I ran into
It was challenging as we have little experience in javascript and HTML.
It was taking a lot of time to build a feature since we need to learn syntaxes and debug it with the help of StackOverFlow and Github.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
We are happy that we have learned a lot more about JavaScript and HTML.
We also got used to using Google API to develop webs and apps.
We were able to jumpscare users with friendly images and set a demo timer.
What's next for Study Mode
Complete the timer feature to allow break after study.
Add more restricted domains.
