Inspiration
Students often struggle to learn from lengthy PDFs, organize study materials, and understand difficult concepts efficiently. We wanted to build a platform that makes learning more personalized, interactive, and accessible using AI.
What it does
StudyMate AI is an AI-powered learning platform that helps students turn study materials into structured learning experiences. It allows users to upload PDFs, ask questions based on their content, generate courses, practice questions, and interact with an AI tutor. It also provides a dashboard to organize learning materials and track progress.
How we built it
We built StudyMate AI using Next.js, React, TypeScript, and Tailwind CSS for the frontend and application framework. We integrated Groq and Gemini APIs to power AI tutoring and course generation. PDF processing enables students to interact with their study materials, while browser local storage helps maintain learning progress and preferences.
Challenges we ran into
One of our main challenges was providing relevant answers based on uploaded study materials while maintaining a smooth learning experience. Integrating multiple AI APIs, handling PDF content, managing contextual conversations, and organizing different learning features into a unified interface also required careful implementation.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We brought multiple study tools together in one platform, including AI tutoring, PDF-based question answering, course generation, practice activities, and learning progress tracking. We are proud of creating an experience that helps students move beyond passive reading toward more interactive and personalized learning.
What we learned

What's next for Untitled
Our next goal is to make StudyMate AI more personalized by introducing adaptive learning paths, smarter recommendations based on weak topics, improved progress analytics, and spaced-repetition flashcards. We also aim to enhance document understanding and help students identify knowledge gaps so they can focus on what matters most.
