Inspiration

As college students, finding the right study partners who match our schedules and study habits can be challenging. We wanted to create a platform that allows students to enter their course details and get matched with peers, making it easier to form effective study groups.

What it does

TAMU Study Groups provides a streamlined way for students to connect with classmates and form study groups. By entering their course information, students can be matched with others taking the same classes, making it easier to coordinate study sessions. Additionally, we incorporated a live study room option, where students can study together in real time, fostering a collaborative learning environment. The website is still in need of a lot of edits and is just a skeleton.

How we built it

e developed the frontend of our website using CSS and TypeScript, focusing on creating a clean and intuitive user interface. As beginners, we had to learn and adapt quickly to implement different technologies. Despite the challenges, we were able to design a prototype that demonstrates our core idea.

Challenges we ran into

Since we are still learning, integrating multiple programming languages and frameworks was a major challenge. Understanding how to structure our project and bring together different components took time, and we had to troubleshoot various technical issues along the way. Additionally, time constraints made it difficult to implement all the features we originally envisioned. Some aspects of our website are still in progress, and we are working towards refining them.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

One of our biggest accomplishments was building a working prototype within a short timeframe. This project pushed us to step out of our comfort zones and learn how to integrate different technologies effectively. We are proud of the progress we made, especially considering our limited experience.

What we learned

This project taught us the importance of understanding user needs when developing a product. We also learned how to collaborate effectively as a team, manage tasks efficiently, and troubleshoot technical challenges.

What's next for TAMU Study Groups

We plan to continue developing the website to refine existing features and introduce new ones. One of our main goals is to implement individual user accounts, allowing for a more personalized experience. We also want to improve our matching algorithm to provide better study group recommendations and enhance the live study room feature with more interactive tools.
