Inspiration

Students today use many different tools for studying, planning, productivity, and daily support. At the same time, students with communication barriers can face additional difficulties expressing their needs. We wanted to create one inclusive platform that supports the student beyond academics.

What it does

StudyCare AI is an AI-powered student companion that helps students learn, communicate, and grow.

It brings together:

  • AI Study Assistant for doubt solving and learning guidance
  • Personalized Study Planner with timetable, calendar and focus timer
  • Quizzes and Notes for active learning
  • Progress and Streak tracking
  • Wellbeing support and study-routine reminders
  • YouTube-based learning recommendations
  • Bus tracking for daily student convenience
  • AI Language Assistant using camera-based recognition of supported hand gestures to generate meaningful communication

The Language Assistant is our key social-impact feature, designed to make communication more accessible for students who face communication barriers.

How we built it

We designed StudyCare AI as a modular, mobile-friendly application. The system combines a user interface, authentication, application APIs, AI services, computer-vision/gesture recognition, and a secure data layer.

The AI Study Assistant can connect to an LLM/API for personalized responses. The Language Assistant processes camera input through a supported gesture-recognition pipeline and converts recognized gestures into text or communication intents.

Challenges we ran into

Our biggest challenges were designing many features while keeping the experience simple, making AI responses useful, and planning reliable gesture recognition. We also had to consider privacy, security, accessibility, and the limitations of a prototype.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of turning a broad student problem into a unified concept that combines education, AI, wellbeing, and accessibility. We especially focused on making communication support part of the student experience rather than treating it as a completely separate product.

What we learned

We learned that a strong AI project is not just about adding AI everywhere. The technology should solve a real problem. We also learned the importance of user experience, accessibility, modular architecture, validation, and presenting measurable impact instead of making unsupported claims.

What's next for StudyCare AI

Our next step is to validate the Language Assistant with real users and accessibility experts, expand the supported gesture vocabulary, improve recognition accuracy, integrate reliable APIs, strengthen security and privacy, and pilot StudyCare AI with students.

Our vision is simple:

Study care is a moment.
