Inspiration

Students often struggle with self-study due to lack of proper guidance, unanswered doubts after classes, and difficulty managing multiple subjects. We noticed that many students need instant, personalized academic support outside the classroom. This inspired us to build Study Buddy AI — a smart, always-available study companion.

What it does

Study Buddy AI is an AI-powered learning assistant that helps students understand concepts, solve doubts, and plan their studies effectively. It provides simplified explanations, subject-wise Q&A support, study schedules, and revision assistance tailored to individual learning needs.

How we built it

We built the frontend using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to keep the interface simple and student-friendly. The backend was developed using Python (Flask/FastAPI), where AI/NLP logic handles concept explanation and question answering. Frontend and backend communicate through REST APIs, and the project was managed using GitHub.

Challenges we ran into

One of the main challenges was explaining complex academic topics in simple language. Designing an interface suitable for students of different levels was also challenging. Additionally, integrating AI responses efficiently within the hackathon time limit required careful planning.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We successfully built a functional AI-based study assistant that addresses real student problems. The application delivers accurate explanations, supports multiple subjects, and was completed within the hackathon timeline with a clean and usable interface.

What we learned

Through this project, we learned how AI and NLP can be applied in education, how to design student-centric products, and how to collaborate effectively using version control tools. We also gained experience in rapid development under time constraints.

What's next for study-buddy-ai

Future plans include adding voice-based interaction, progress tracking dashboards, gamified learning features, mobile app support, and multi-language learning to make Study Buddy AI more accessible and engaging for students.
