FlashDeck is an AI-powered study system that creates flashcards instantly from photos or notes. Students can draw diagrams directly, get AI explanations when stuck, and use smart repetition that adapts to what they don't know. It works on any device - phone, tablet, laptop.
Frontend: Canvas API for drawing, MathJax for formulas, IndexedDB for offline storage Backend: Express.js with session management and authentication AI Integration: OpenRouter API for Claude Vision and GPT-4V to process images and generate explanations Algorithm: Custom spaced repetition system based on performance metrics
The biggest challenge was making AI understand educational content correctly. My first attempts generated flashcards with wrong answers or missed key concepts. I solved this through careful prompt engineering and allowing users to edit before saving.
