Inspiration
We often struggled to find other students to study with, wether that be preparing for an exam of the same subject or just chilling with someone at a specific location while you work so you can stay focused. This product was an idea we had to make it easier to find other students who want to do the same!
What it does
StudyBuddies lets users post information about Study Sessions to a collgee-wide feed and let's other user's sign up for your group. This way, you can always find people to study with you! This website features a login and registration system, the ability to upload and view posts containing key information about your study session (ex: capacity, subject, location), and allows you to search for study sessions based on different criteria.
Future features include: SSO authentication (for NYU or other schools for login), further advanced search systems, tagging features for options like individual work or collaborative work, and an improved UI/UX (perhaps in the format of a mobile app as well).
How we built it
We built this app using Flask, Python, MongoDB, Jinja, Bootstrap, HTML, and CSS.
Challenges we ran into
As we are all first time hackers and freshmen, we had some trouble getting started with our project as there was a lot of initial groundwork and setup to lay down. Additionally, we had to figure out Git version control to make collaboration easier for us.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud of having a functional project that successfuly completes the most important, base features!
What we learned
We've learned a lot about collaboration, planning, and especially a LOT about databases.
