StudyBuddies

StudyBuddies is a virtual group study space for students to collaborate with their peers. Our goal is to give students an online tool to help them succeed academically during the pandemic.

Inspiration

Our inspiration for this project was the effect this pandemic has had mentally on students. For many, this has resulted in increased academic stress. Peers haven't been able to support each other in person, so we created an online platform for students to support each other academically.

What it does

You can join your friend's group and study with them or create your own. We included features to help with studying, such as a timer, to-do list and a chat to communicate with group members. As well, you can customize your study space with photos and different background colours or add music to listen to.

How we built it

We used HTML, CSS and Javascript on Repl.it to code our website. As well, we used Figma to design and prototype the website.

Challenges we ran into

We ran into challenges with coding, because we are beginners to web development. Especially coding features that can allow for greater customization.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

One thing we are proud of is the website because it looks professional and modern. We're also very proud of getting our code to work because we thought it would be a challenge.

What we learned

We learned what software to use to help our idea come to life. Also, how to plan out our project beforehand to make coding more streamlined and finish our project within the deadline.

What's next for StudyBuddies

We hope to publish this and make it a official website. We'd also like to add more features for customization.
