Inspiration

  • Our mission is to match each user with a 'study buddy'. College students understandably have busy schedules, and with this app, college students have the opportunity to connect with an online study buddy that will help them with their studies. We encourage college students to take advantage of this free opportunity so that they are able to do well with their studies without added stress.

What it does

  • Our website will allow users to match them with a study buddy based on what class (subject) the student takes, their preferred study method and their days available. For now, the users will be connected to local students, but we do plan on expanding to nationwide users in the future.

How we built it

  • We used HTML, CSS and JavaScript to produce our website. First, one of our group members created our website layout, two of us went in and used code to edit the buttons for the website and the profile page to make them functionable, and our last group member created a 3D modeling product on Fusion360.

Challenges we ran into

  • The 'my invites' sections were our most challenging part, as it was hard to implement and keep record of the invites sent and/or requested, so we came up with an alternative.
  • The 'create your profile' section had set us back a little, such as the profile picture idea we originally went with had trouble uploading, so we removed this feature, but the 'create your profile' section was successfully taken care of, so users are able to create a profile on our website.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • We were able to get our website functionable. Users will be able to create their profile, answer the questions and will get matched with a study buddy.
  • The website was easily accessible and had no loading errors
  • The UI/UX designs that were produced and our creativity

What we learned

  • It took a lot of time, collaboration and teamwork to make our website a success. There are things we could improve on, such as providing better functionality with our buttons, and adding more study buddies to choose from
  • If we choose to expand our website, maybe look into more ways that we could utilize backend resources in order to make our website better

What's next for Study Bae

  • Expand our audience, not just for college students, but for everyone!
