Inspiration
Managing study time is one of the biggest problems students face, including me. We make plans, then forget them or lose track of time. I wanted an app that builds the plan for us and reminds us at the exact time, like an alarm clock.
What it does
Study Alarm turns a plain-text note about your day into a study schedule. You type something like "Math exam Friday, free 6-9 PM tonight", and the AI creates study sessions with times and adds them to your alarm list. At each session time, the app rings with sound, vibration and a notification. You can choose from 5 alarm sounds.
How we built it
It is a single web page made with HTML, CSS and JavaScript, built and tested on an Android phone with an AI assistant (Claude). The AI planner uses Claude to turn the note into a list of study sessions. The design is dark green for comfortable night studying, with a round clock face. The code is on GitHub and the app is hosted with GitHub Pages.
Challenges we ran into
The biggest limit was time: the whole project was built in about two days. A web alarm only works while the page is open, so the tab must stay open. The AI planner needs the Claude version of the app, so the GitHub Pages version has the alarm and sounds only.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Going from a real student problem to a working app with AI planning, custom alarm sounds and a clean design, all built on a phone.
What we learned
How to plan an app step by step with an AI assistant, connect AI to a simple tool, and publish it with GitHub and a demo video.
What's next for Study Alarm
Letting users upload their own alarm sound, and turning it into a real phone app so alarms work with the screen off.
