When the Hackathon kicked off, we started brainstorming project ideas by listing problems we faced on a daily basis. It immediately became apparent that as college students, we had all had two problems in common: 1) We all needed a little extra help with our classes. Office hours tend to be packed around deadlines (especially for CS classes), and they aren't always at times that work with our schedules. 2) We could all use a little extra money. (College is expensive!)
sTudoring aims to solve both of these problems. Need some extra help with your class material? Enter the class you need help with, where you are, and how much you'd be willing to pay for some help. sTudoring give you a list of students in your area who would be willing to help you for the price you named. Need some extra cash? Enter a class you previously took, name your wage and location, and sTudoring will give you a list of students who would be willing to pay you for tutoring in your area.
We are applying for the Goldman Sachs UX design award because we feel that the main feature that sets our application apart is our user interface. We used a combination CSS3 transitions, and jQuery to spice up what would have been a fairly boring and mundane text-based form interface in a fun way. We think that our experience speaks for itself, so we encourage you to try it out! For example, try searching for tutors for 'CS 1110'
