Inspiration

Content creators and educators often spend hours editing simple talking-head videos just to make them engaging. We wanted to remove the manual editing bottleneck and build an intelligent system that can act like a digital video editor. The goal was to leverage multimodal AI to automatically transform raw recordings into polished, professional videos ready for social platforms.

What it does

StudioAgent automatically converts raw talking-head videos into professionally edited content. It analyzes the video using multimodal reasoning from Google Gemini and generates scene cuts, captions, typography, highlights, and background music. The result is a clean, engaging, social-media-ready video produced with minimal manual effort.

How we built it

We implemented the agent using the Google GenAI SDK and orchestrated decision-making with the Agent Development Kit. Videos are stored and processed through scalable services on Google Cloud. The pipeline extracts audio and frames, sends transcripts and visual cues to Gemini for analysis, generates an editing plan, and executes edits using automated video processing tools.

Challenges we ran into

One of the biggest challenges was designing the agent logic so it could decide where to cut, highlight, and emphasize without manual instructions. Synchronizing subtitles, animations, and transitions while maintaining natural pacing also required careful processing and timing control.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We successfully built an autonomous workflow that can interpret raw video context and generate a structured editing plan. The system demonstrates how AI agents can move beyond text generation and perform creative multimedia tasks such as automated video production.

What we learned

We learned how powerful multimodal AI can be when combined with an agent-based architecture. Integrating AI reasoning with programmatic media processing revealed how creative workflows can be automated through structured pipelines and intelligent planning.

What's next for StudioAgent

Next, we plan to add short-form content generation (reels and shorts), automatic B-roll insertion, smarter emotion-based editing, and customizable editing styles. The long-term vision is to evolve StudioAgent into a full AI video production assistant capable of editing, repurposing, and optimizing content for multiple platforms automatically.
