Inspiration
At my school, there is a 20 hour service learning hours requirement in order to graduate with a high school diploma. However, for my graduating class (I'm a senior), 60% of the students haven't even started volunteering! With less than 3 months left of our senior year, it is shocking that a majority of our graduating class isn't on track to graduate! I've noticed throughout my time in high school that there was no reliable resource to depend upon to find volunteering opportunities in the community.
What it does
StudentServe is a collaborative platform that is school-based and built around the student. The teachers and school admins post the opportunities on the web application, notifying students of all the opportunities available. Students will then get to have a stronger awareness of the ways they can give back to the community while staying on track for graduation.
How we built it
We built the prototype of StudentServe using CookieDB, React, Next.js, and HTML.
