Studently

Inspiration

We found the planning system offered to students by our university – University of Quebec at Trois-Rivieres – to be lacking in some respects and not enough centralized for user comfort, so we aimed to build a new, more efficient system.

What it does

Studently is a planning system aimed at students that allows them to add new tasks to perform in the form of a ToDo list. It also has a section offering relaxation sounds and a chat functionality for users to communicate between them. Combining planification, self-care and social network, Studently is designed to be a student’s best friend.

How we built it

We mostly used Javascript (Vanilla for the frontend and with NodeJs for the back). We also used docker to make developement easier.

Challenges we ran into

We met difficulties syncing our PCs to a single server using Docker, since some of us had Windows and others Linux as an operating system. This very difference would cause smaller issues all the way through the project even after this initial one had been addressed.

Build a working application this fast and provide students with means to ask help to peers.

What's next for Studently

We intend to work further on Studently and improve the system, adding among other things an agenda functionality in the form of a calendar. We will then start sharing it with friends of ours in a closed beta. Once it has been tested thoroughly, we will consider opening it to a larger customer base.
