Inspiration

My father is a social worker at an elementary school and has ingrained into me that before a kid can focus on school, they have to have full stomachs. So, I wanted to create something that could make it just a bit easier for lower income students to manage their diets to make sure they get enough to eat while staying within their budgets.

What it does

The website is designed to be an all encompassing meal planner that allows users to determine their daily calorie intake, make meal plans, learn budget friendly recipes, and find food coupons/discounts. Functionality wise, the calorie calculator is the only webpage available and does not currently display the results.

How we built it

I used the Visual Studio code editor, as well as HTML and CSS, to design web pages for the project.

Challenges we ran into

Prior to this project, I did not know any HTML or CSS, so I had to learn from scratch. I found form data to be the most challenging aspect of this learning prospect, as I was unable to get the form data for the calorie calculator to send to the calculator function.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I am proud of how much I've learned about HTML and CSS in the past few days, as well as my newfound ability to use code editors.

What we learned

I learned the basic boilerplate for HTML, how to use style sheets, how to implement forms and buttons, and essentially all the basics of HTML.

What's next for Untitled

I plan to keep working on this project outside of this hackathon. I want to get every webpage indicated by the main page up and running, as well as fix the calorie calculator.
