Inspiration

We realized that first-generation and low-income students face many challenges. Among them are lack of encouragement/community and lack of awareness of and access to existing resouces. We wanted to create a website that addressed these issuses.
To foster a sense of community, we created a type of forum for users to post their experiences and encourage each other to pursue their goals.
To raise awareness of and access to existing resources, we have a page of our website dedicated to compiling academic, financial, and mental wellbeing resources.

Our website allows users to post their own experiences to a forum.
It also includes a compiled list of resources. These include information on how to apply to college, the FAFSA, and scholarships, where to find academic support, and how to take care of your mental health.

In general, we are extremely proud of putting together the entire website as well as styling all of it ourselves. We are beginners in website development and we are extremely proud of ourselves for having completed this project.

We learned to implement PHP in our program, which is not something we have ever done before.
We built on our knowledge of CSS and Javascript to allow the website to work together cohesively.

We hope to get the display for the post feature working so that the users can share information with each other. We also want to get the forum to look like a social media feed.
We also hope to implement a database so that we can save information like previous posts and login information for mulitple users.

I primarily dedicated my efforts to refining the website's visual appeal and structuring its various components in a coherent manner. A significant portion of my attention was directed toward constructing the resources page, crafting its visual layout, and conceptualizing its aesthetic presentation. Furthermore, I actively contributed to shaping the design and layout of the community forum, ensuring it aligned with the envisioned visual theme.

I mainly worked on the backend portion of the website. I worked on trying to get the login and the creation of the post to work. I also worked on the navigation bar and the changing quotes on the home page.
