Inspiration

Main inspiration was to have something to submit to this hackathon haha. Actually, I know that several students (myself included) face a lot of stress so I thought it would be great to built a website that provides great features!

What it does

There are three main web pages and why I made them:

Stress Management Tips: There are way too many resources online echoing the same tips over and over again which is why I thought it would be useful to have all the main, core tips on one page.

Tracker: It is a sort of a checklist. I made so it would be easier for students, who are struggling, to see what they have to do to lessen their stress (as putting these tips into action can be overwhelming for them). They can easily check off any of the tips they have followed that day and (hopefully) feel more motivated to follow the other tips.

Journal: Buying a new journal might be difficult for several reasons (tight on money, feeling overwhelmed, etc.) thus I created a webpage just so students can journal there. They don't even need to add the date as it'll be added on its own!

How we built it

I mainly uses Replit as the software to make the website as it gave me the flexibility to work from either my laptop or my phone. I used HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to make the entire website. I tried to make as much of the website based on my pre-existing knowledge, however since I'm still a beginner, I had to use YouTube, online blogs/articles, and (sometimes) ChatGPT a lot.

Challenges we ran into

• Forgot to import (I hope that's the correct term) the jQuery library.

• Forgot to add script tags for one of the pages I was using JavaScript for.

• Bad internet connection hindered my ability to otherwise easily find solutions to my problem and code quickly.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I'm incredibly proud of the working journal webpage!

What we learned

As I'm a beginner I learned so many things. I learned how to insert something from my JavaScript to the website's HTML. I found out how I can could you local storage method/function for persistent dark mode.

What's next for Student Stress Management

I'm hoping to add a feature to make accounts in order to journal. I might add a page for study tips and budgeting. I may add a feature so the user can add their own things to the checklist.
