Inspiration

The project was born out of a genuine concern for the mental and academic well-being of students today. I noticed a pervasive issue: myself and my peers were spending an alarming amount of time on social media, often at the expense of our studies, sleep, and overall happiness. This wasn't just a personal observation; it's a global phenomenon with a significant impact on an entire generation. I was inspired to create a tool that moves beyond simple awareness and provides a tangible, data-driven way for students to understand their digital habits and, most importantly, provides a path to healthier usage. The goal was to empower, not to shame.

What it does

The Student Social Media Addiction Analyzer is a dual-purpose web application. Its first function is a global dashboard that visualizes social media addiction trends by country. Users can explore aggregated, anonymous data to see how their habits compare to those of students in other parts of the world.

The second, more personal feature is the daily usage tracker. Users can input their daily usage for various social media platforms. Based on this data, the application calculates a personalized "Social Media Addiction Score" and how their usage might be affecting them. Most importantly, it generates actionable recommendations tailored to the user's habits, such as setting daily time limits.
