Inspiration
As students, we often feel overwhelmed balancing lectures, assignments, exams, and part-time jobs Academic pressure can easily lead to stress, burnout, and poor time management Most apps focus only on productivity or only on wellness, but rarely both We wanted a solution that supports both planning and mental wellbeing together This inspired us to create BloomBuddy, a supportive AI study companion
What it does
Helps students track tasks, deadlines, and exams in one place Generates realistic AI-powered daily study plans Provides quick daily mood and stress check-ins Suggests breaks and stress-relief activities when workload is too heavy Shows weekly summaries to help students understand their habits and wellbeing trends Acts like a friendly study buddy rather than a strict to-do list
How we built it
Designed a simple, clean interface to reduce cognitive overload Build the app using Flutter / FlutterFlow for fast and responsive UI Use Firebase for authentication and data storage Integrate an LLM API to generate schedules, explanations, and personalized suggestions Implement scheduling logic to balance workload across days Focus on privacy-aware, non-medical guidance
Challenges we ran into
Balancing productivity features without making the app feel stressful Ensuring AI recommendations feel trustworthy and explainable Avoiding medical or diagnostic claims while still offering meaningful support Keeping the system lightweight and easy for daily use Designing check-ins that are helpful but not time-consuming
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Successfully combining time management and mental wellbeing into one platform Creating AI-generated schedules that adapt to both workload and mood Building a student-friendly interface that takes only seconds to use daily Designing a supportive, empathetic tone instead of a rigid productivity tool Demonstrating responsible and ethical use of AI
What we learned
Productivity without wellbeing often leads to burnout Small daily habits create meaningful long-term improvements Students prefer guidance over strict control AI works best as a supportive assistant, not a decision-maker Simplicity and clarity are more important than adding too many features
