Inspiration

CUNY is the most diverse university system in the planet. With that, it also houses a large first generation college student body. We want to help them integrate into college life.

What it does

The app connect students and staff to start a healthy discourse that both integrates new students and helps staff understand where students need assistance. It provides several resources such as tutoring, peer discussion and counseling.

How we built it

We built the framework using android studios and the cloud database, Firebase.

Challenges we ran into

Aside from scrambling for wifi, some challenges we ran into was dividing the work appropriately between team members.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We were able to manage a group project and build different sections of an application. We were also proud of coming up with an idea that has real functionality and has a place in the school system.

What we learned

We learned how to make projects in Android studio and use a database. We also learned how to manage a group software project in such a short period.

What's next for Student Life

Implementing the app into CUNY schools, adding more features that greater enhance user and staff interaction, and to use this relationship to reform schools to better serve students.
