Inspiration
As current students as well, navigating the financial world can be a bit daunting. Being able to break things down so that they become less overwhelming, and setting ourselves up for success with our hack was a major inspiration for us.
What it does
The website provides a detailed explanation and game-plan for the basics and must haves of the financial world. From the low risk options, to some of the more risker ones- it outlines it all. There is also an interactive budgeting spreadsheet to allow students to input their personal finances and create a personalized budget.
How we built it
For the front end of the website, we used HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
Challenges we ran into
Because this is our first time for the challenge, it was a tad daunting at first determining which challenge we were going to compete in and how we were going to utilize our skill sets. Once we agreed on our topic, we did experience more challenges with the formatting of our website, and learning some new programs to use to enhance our website.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are extremely proud that for our first ever hackathon we were able to code our own website with minimal knowledge. We also demonstrated good team work skills, even though our team was established the day of.
What we learned
Our team learned a lot about front end and web development design. We were able to grow our skillset, especially in CSS and HTML, and received a lot of experience in web development.
What's next for Student Financial Advisory
Our team will continue to develop the website, and dive deeper into front-end development. We are proud that we created something that was not only fun to make, but was also useful to students with their financial literacy skills.
