Inspiration
When the students are attending U of A, it's essential that they keep their living expenses in check. So I designed this student expense tracker to help student keep their budget.
What it does
It features a user-friendly interface built with Chakra UI, allowing users to set budgets, add expenses, categorize spending, and view reports.
How we built it
We used React.js as the frontend library; for the backend, we used Django REST Framework and PostgreSQL as the database. We also used Chakra UI as the React component library to beautify the UI and Axios as the HTTP client. We used the Netlify platform for web deployment for the app.
Challenges we ran into
When this React app was running in development mode, the background image could not be displayed correctly. It took me hours to fix this. Luckily, we found out it was because of the incorrect file path in the App.js file that led to the failure of the display.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
What we learned
It takes much patience to test and improve the user experience.
