Inspiration

Students juggle too many platforms — Canvas, Gradescope, email, course websites — and things slip through the cracks.

What it does

Dedalus AI agents automatically crawl course pages and school portals to discover assignments, exams, office hours, and events, then surface everything in a single editable daily briefing document where students can drag-and-drop items, check things off, and annotate.

There's a section that represents the student's cleaned representation of what they have to do and the section that represents the information dense agent-created interface that is easy to scan with a lot of information all in the same place about assignments and stuff, which the agents gathered for us.

How we built it

Nextjs, dnd-kit, Dedalus Labs agent sdk, Dedalus lab MCP, BlockNote! (dedalus for everything AI)

Accomplishments that we're proud of

You can drag an assignment from the agent panel onto your daily briefing and AI contextually places it in the right section — it feels like magic.

What we learned

Students think in urgency ("what's due today?"), not calendar grids — and MCP makes it surprisingly straightforward to give an AI agent real tools like web crawlers and LMS APIs.

What's next for Student Assistant

gcal kinda doesn't work -- it would be insane
