Secur[I]ty Stu[D]ent

Inspiration

The recent surges of school shootings have inspired us to design a system of security to prevent intruders from entering and attacking the school. Our intent is to create a safer and efficient environment.

What it does

Our system, verifies students and changes the way school works. The system tracks our students' infractions in accordance to school rules.

How we built it

The system is based on the Firebase real-time database. The database holds student ids, names, and number of infractions. Users are able to connect through our website and app.

Challenges we ran into

Our team's skills in these languages were at the very basic level, we had to learn these languages to create this product. Due to unforeseen circumstances, our team had to switch databases midway through the project.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We switched databases midway through the project, and still managed to "complete" the project. Overall, our team managed to create an app that is optimized and a website what was built from scratch.

What we learned

We learned html, Firebase, Firesharp, and app development in these last twenty-four hours.

What's next for Secur[I]ty Stu[D]ent

NFC integration in the ID cards or phones for faster, more secure verification process. Implementation of AD grouping will make sorting student IDs more efficient and maintenance of network systems easier.
