Inspiration

Nothing is more fun than reviving your childhood and bringing one of your favorite childhood games to life! Honestly speaking, we as a team never thought a game could be done over the Wix as well. This was surely a new thing and a bit challenging. But we at Strugbits love challenges! We believe the more difficult something is the more fun it is! It always teaches you that everything is possible.

What it does

It's an old classic game pen-and-paper game for 2 or more players to be played either multiplayer locally i.e. using a single system or online as well. The game starts with an empty grid of dots. The grid can be any size and Strugbits Dots and Boxes has a handful to choose from. Players take turns connecting 2 unjoined horizontally or vertically adjacent dots. A player who completes the fourth side of a 1x1 box earns one point and must take another turn. The game ends when all lines are drawn and boxes are claimed. The player with the most points wins. If more than one player has the same high score, the game is a tie.

How we built it

We have used the following: Wix APIs : (wixWindow, wixUser, wixData, etc ) Database for real-time: Firebase Platform: Velo Languages: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JQuerry As well as the following wix elements: iFrame Buttons Container Text, Image Vector(icon) LightBox

Challenges we ran into

Making a game over Wix was definitely not an easy task. But we tried to challenge our skills and take it to next level by implementing real-time in it, where every move of a player was fetched and shown for all the players who were using multiple systems at their own locations! It was a trial and error phase for us and we are glad we could accomplish what we aimed for.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of implementing multiple timers and making it an online game for up to 4 players! The maintenance of stats and ranks is another achievement for us!

What we learned

We have learned a lot through the game which consists of implementing the following: Real-time online game for up to 4 players Keeping records of all the logged players as well as updating their ranks accordingly.
