Our inspiration came from attending a frat party. The dance floor had a disco ball, but was simply rotating. We felt that if the lights synced with the beats of the song, this would enhance the visual aspect of experiencing music. Our target users are anyone who wants to turn up or enhance their music listening experience. We are proud of the beat differentiation feature on our device: different lights respond to different frequencies of sound, making it easy to visualize different instruments in the music. The setup is also quite affordable and can work by simply plugging in any audio device via 3.5 mm aux cable. This hack used a cheap LED array, but could be used with larger light setups.
