Inspiration

Sharing a link should share the destination—not our digital footprint. Whether we are sending an article, product page, search result, video, social post, or website link, the extra URL clutter that big advertising, social, and search companies often use to understand how links move across the internet, are then used to exploit the way people interact with others and the reach of their personal networks, which is a critical aspect of our privacy as individuals, that we lost these past years. I want to give people a simple way to take back a small piece of their privacy.

What it does

Strip and Share removes unnecessary tracking parameters, referral tokens and advertising identifiers from URLs before they can be safelly shared. Cleaner links. Less tracking.

How I built it

Strip and Share is my first Flutter application. I used ChatGPT and Codex as development partners throughout my project, from setting up the development environment to implementing features, refactoring code, solving platform-specific issues and accelerating my development. The vision, product design, feature decisions and overall direction is my own, leveraged with AI.

Challenges I ran into

Flutter, Android tooling and mobile application development were all new to me, this is the first application I've developed, and I used AI as an invaluable learning companion throughout the process.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

The accomplishment I'm most proud of isn't just the application itself, but knowing that it's now finally possibe to bring my ideas to life without being slave to the code, and proving that modern AI tools can empower independent creators to build polished software by themselves.

What I learned

I've learned that using AI tools I can finally do things by myself, where previously I would need an entire team of people with different skills to do the same.

What's next for Strip and Share

Make it finally available at mobile app Stores, and possibly a desktop version for Microsoft Windows and Linux too. Releasing paid versions with improved usability and configuration, while continuing to improve URL cleaning capabilities and support for additional tracking patterns. The long-term goal is simple: make privacy-conscious link sharing effortless, regardless of the platform people use.
